Devar Films Thai Sollai Thatathey was released on 7th November 1961. The movie was a stupendous success. Devar Films first movie with our beloved Leader Puratchi Thalaivar MGR was Thaiku Pin Tharam which was released on 21.9.1956. After 5 years of cold war between MGR and Devar they came out from their difference and made this movie.
This is a special post for the Golden Jubilee Year of Thai Sollai Thatathey (1961 to 2011).
The first shot of the movie was captured on July 12th 1961 and then from September month MGR completed his part of the movie and the same was released on 7.11.1961.
The movie was released all over South and created Box Office record. 7 Theaters crossed 100 days in Tamil Nadu and one in Srilanka they are:
MGR acted as a CID in this movie to my knowledge this movie is the first time MGR acted as a secret police.
Synopsis of the movie written by MGR Devotee Sailesh Basu.
Mohan (Ashokan) and Raju (MGR) are brothers separated at a very young age. Their father was killed by Parangkusam / Pandithurai [ M.R Radha].
The Elder brother gets separated from his mother because of his wrong activities. His younger brother (MGR) is a CID Officer. He meets his brother after years. Vijaya [Saroja Devi] is the daughter of M.R. Radha and MGR’s love interest.
Asokan and M R Radha are partners in all crime activities. When MGR’s mother comes to know that Vijaya is Parangkusam’s [M.R.Radha] daughter she objects to their marriage.
How the CID Officer exposes the culprits forms rest of the story.

The dialogues were written by Aroordas. This movie was the second highest collection of the year 1961 after Thirudathae.
